I Like Yard Work

I have always enjoyed getting outside in my yard and doing a little work. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t like it when it becomes a job! So I try to keep it where I am never overwhelmed.

Plan your yard so that it will not take too much maintenance. Trees are beautiful and provide lots of shade but can be a real nuisance and a maintenance nightmare. So do not have too many trees and keep them trimmed.

Flower beds are also very attractive but can take a lot of care. Use them to highlight your yard without running them all around. Lay down black plastic under your soil and cover the bed with wood chips to hinder weeds from growing. Frame your beds with a border to keep the grass out.

Every week work a little in your yard so that it does not become a hard job that you despise and keep putting off. This will keep your yard always looking nice and neat. You will enjoy getting outdoors and using your hands without killing your body. It will give you a sense of satisfaction to see your landscape improving as the weeks go by.

So don’t grumble about the yard, go to work! Breathing fresh air, feeling the dirt, watching plants change and grow with the seasons is all a part of better living.
